Kailanya Brailey, Principal

Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Secondary Education, Winthrop University
  • Master of Science in Education (specializing in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment), Walden University
  • Master of Education (Educational Administration), University of South Carolina

Experience:

Before beginning the exciting journey of serving as the principal of Pelion Middle School, Ms. Brailey taught 8th and 10th grade English Language Arts for three years at Bethune-Bowman Middle/High School in her home district, Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five. She then taught 7th grade English Language Arts and Journalism for five years at Chapin Middle School in School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties. While at Chapin Middle School, she became a National Board Certified Teacher and was selected as the 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year. She began her career as a school administrator serving as an academic dean at Meadow Glen Middle School in Lexington One.

Jessica Keisler, Assistant Principal Jessica L. Keisler

Education:

  • Bachelor of  Science degree in Elementary Education, Charleston Southern University
  • Master of Education in Teaching (specializing in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment), University of South Carolina
  • Master of Education in Educational Administration, University of South Carolina

Experience:

Ms. Keisler is beginning her 14th year at Pelion Middle School and 2nd year as assistant principal. She has filled many roles while at Pelion Middle including 6th grade English language arts teacher, 6th and 7th grade mathematics teacher, ELA department head, Math department head, 6th and 7th grade team leader, instructional coach,  lead interventionist, and girl’s basketball coach. In 2007, Ms. Keisler was named Lexington County School District One Distinguished Reading Teacher. Ms. Keisler was also selected as the 2011-2012 Pelion Middle Teacher of the Year and went on to be named as one of the Lexington School District One Top Five Finalists for District Teacher of the Year. When Ms. Keisler started teaching in 2006, the Pelion Community stole her heart. She is excited to be able to continue to serve in the community that she loves.

Richard Adams, Assistant Principal  Richard L. Adams

Education:

    • Bachelor of Science in Music Education, University of South Carolina
    • Masters in Education Administration, University of South Carolina

Experience:

Mr. Richard Adams has a total of eighteen years of experience in education including teaching middle and high school chorus, as well as coaching boys basketball. During this time, Mr. Adams and his performing groups had the opportunity to travel and compete in many music festivals throughout the Southeast (cities included Atlanta, GA; Virginia Beach, VA; Gatlinburg. TN; Orlando, FL; and Williamsburg, VA.)

Mr. Adams has three children and resides in Lexington, SC with his wife Jennifer.  He is excited about being a part of the Pelion Middle School administrative team and serving students/parents in Pelion, SC where he has served since 2013.
